A British startup, Audacious Automotive, is transforming the legendary Audi Quattro into a high-performance restomod by grafting the heart of an RS4 under its classic shell. This isn’t just a cosmetic upgrade; it’s a complete reimagining of the rally-bred icon, blending nostalgia with modern power.
The Heart of a Beast
The original Quattro’s 2.1-liter five-cylinder turbo is being replaced with the 4.2-liter V8 from the B7-generation Audi RS4, producing 414 horsepower. But Audacious isn’t stopping there. A supercharger is added to push the output to at least 600 hp, making this restomod a formidable machine. To keep the driving experience raw and engaging, the car will be equipped with a manual transmission.
Rally-Inspired Aesthetics
The exterior will be heavily modified, drawing inspiration from the Group B-era Audi S1 Quattro. Expect an aggressive front fascia with a redesigned bumper, black grille, and larger air intakes. Flared wheel arches will dramatically widen the car’s stance, while a louvered rear window, towering wing, and unique diffuser enhance both the aggressive looks and the car’s aerodynamic performance.
Lighter and Faster
Beyond appearances, the new bodywork will reduce weight by at least 250 kg (551 lbs) compared to the B7 RS4. This means the restomod could handle as well as it accelerates—a crucial balance for a car with this much power. This project doesn’t come cheap. Audacious Automotive is asking at least $466,000 for the build, excluding the cost of both a donor Audi Quattro and an RS4, which buyers must provide themselves. Despite the high price tag, the combination of classic aesthetics and brutal modern performance makes this restomod a unique proposition for collectors and enthusiasts.
