China’s Chery, through its premium Exeed brand, is gearing up to launch a new all-electric SUV, the EX7. Recent regulatory filings with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reveal key specifications for the single-motor version, signaling the model’s imminent arrival. The EX7 represents Chery’s push into the competitive large EV SUV segment, where domestic automakers are rapidly gaining ground.
Size and Performance
The Exeed EX7 is a substantial vehicle, measuring 4.988 meters long, 1.975 meters wide, and 1.702–1.710 meters high. It boasts a long 3-meter wheelbase, positioning it as a mid-to-large SUV, and is configured for five passengers with a curb weight of 2,230 kg.
Power comes from a single 230 kW electric motor supplied by United Automotive Electronic Systems, enabling a top speed of 200 km/h. While battery capacity remains undisclosed, the vehicle uses lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cells from CATL – a major battery manufacturer. This choice of LFP chemistry suggests a focus on cost-effectiveness and durability.
Design and Features
Exterior images show a modern design with a simplified front end featuring a full-width daytime running light and vertically stacked headlights. The rear incorporates a full-width taillight and a crossover-style bumper. Wheel options include 19, 20, and 21-inch sizes.
Inside, the EX7 features a wide, integrated display spanning the center console and passenger side, along with a floating digital instrument cluster and a panoramic roof. The vehicle is built on Chery’s E0X high-voltage architecture, designed for both battery-electric and range-extended powertrains.

The EX7’s launch comes as Chinese automakers aggressively expand into the large new-energy SUV market. This segment is driven by demand for tech-focused interiors and long driving ranges. Key competitors include the Li Auto L7 and Nio ES6, both offering similar features and capabilities.
Notably, the EX7 was previously known as the ET7 before a rebranding. The company has already begun early mass production, and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version is expected to follow, potentially delivering up to 353 kW of combined output and a CLTC-rated range of up to 726 km.
