Fiat has expanded the Grande Panda Electric lineup in the UK with a new base trim, lowering the starting price to £20,995. This makes it one of the most affordable EVs on the market, competing directly with models like the Leapmotor T03, Dacia Spring, BYD Dolphin Surf, and Citroën ë-C3.
Entry-Level Features
The new “Pop” trim replaces the previous Red grade and includes practical features such as 16-inch steel wheels, LED headlights, and a two-tone black and blue cloth interior. Notably, all red-painted Grande Pandas will now display (RED) badging, supporting the global AIDS charity. This is a partnership where a portion of sales from red vehicles goes towards fundraising efforts.
Performance and Charging
The Grande Panda Electric is powered by a 111bhp front-mounted motor paired with a 44kWh battery, offering an official range of up to 199 miles on a single charge. It supports rapid charging at up to 100kW, and Fiat has integrated a 7kW charging cable into the front grille for convenient home use.
UK Launch Delayed to 2026
Despite initial European deliveries starting earlier in 2024, right-hand-drive models for the UK market will not arrive until spring 2026. Fiat Europe boss Gaetano Thorel has indicated the launch will likely coincide with the new ’26’ numberplate change on March 1st. The delay is attributed to software issues within Stellantis’s Smart Car platform, which also affects other models.
This delay underscores the challenges automakers face in bringing new electric vehicles to market, even with competitive pricing and feature sets. The software integration issues highlight the complexity of modern vehicle development.
