Leapmotor has unveiled the interior of its upcoming D19, a large SUV positioned as a premium offering in the electric vehicle market. Expected to launch in the first half of next year, the D19 aims to compete with established brands by blending luxury features with advanced technology.
Cabin Technology and Comfort
The D19’s cabin is dominated by a 60-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD), ensuring drivers have critical information projected onto the windshield in all conditions. Complementing this are a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a massive 17.3-inch floating central touchscreen for infotainment. Rear passengers aren’t left out, with a 6-inch control screen and a 21.4-inch 3K entertainment display providing a cinema-like experience.
The interior includes a four-spoke steering wheel, wireless phone charging, and an intelligent fragrance system with customizable scents. A central console island provides convenient storage and dual cup holders, while a driver’s headrest audio system enhances the driving experience.
Flexible Seating and Premium Amenities
The D19 will offer configurations for 5, 6, or 7 passengers. Second-row passengers benefit from “zero-gravity” seats with 120-degree recline, adjustable leg rests, and advanced seatbelt technology. The SUV also includes an onboard oxygen generator, folding tables for rear passengers, and laminated acoustic glass for noise reduction. A built-in 8.1L refrigerator, controllable via voice or app, maintains temperatures from -6°C to 50°C.
Design and Dimensions
The Leapmotor D19 is a substantial vehicle, exceeding 5200 mm in length and nearly 2000 mm in width, with a wheelbase over 3100 mm. Exterior color options include Pine Valley Green, Liquid Silver, Metallic Black, Sky Grey, and Photoelectric White.
Powertrain and Charging
The D19 will be available in two powertrains. The range-extender version features an 80.3 kWh battery, providing a 500 km (CLTC) pure electric range. Leveraging an 800V platform, it can charge from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes, with a peak output of 400 kW (536 hp). The SUV is priced between 250,000 and 300,000 yuan (approximately $35,000 to $42,000 USD).
Leapmotor’s D19 signals a new level of ambition for the brand, positioning itself as a direct competitor in the crowded EV SUV market. The focus on interior luxury and advanced tech suggests a strategy to attract buyers seeking a premium experience without the traditional brand premium.
