Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Nio has launched the ES6 Milestone Edition to commemorate surpassing 300,000 cumulative deliveries of its popular ES6 SUV. Priced at 349,800 yuan (approximately $49,300 USD) for outright purchase, or 241,800 yuan ($34,000 USD) with battery rental, the edition introduces exclusive design elements and upgrades previously offered as optional extras.
Key Upgrades in the Milestone Edition
The commemorative model includes standard features such as 20-inch “woven snow” alloy wheels, the Nomi Mate 3.0 voice assistant, a premium “queen passenger seat,” the Moon interior theme, and an enhanced ambient lighting system. These additions differentiate it from earlier ES6 variants released this year.
ES6: A High-Volume Success
First unveiled in December 2018, the ES6 began deliveries in June 2019 and has become one of Nio’s best-selling vehicles. The latest generation, launched in May, started at 338,000 yuan ($47,600 USD) for full purchase and 268,000 yuan ($37,750 USD) with battery rental.
Technical Specifications and Platform
The ES6 Milestone Edition utilizes the same NT 2.0 platform as the current generation. It features revised styling, including a reshaped hood and updated front bumper airflow guides, alongside standard matrix LED headlights. The interior boasts a 15.6-inch AMOLED centre display and a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel, managed by the Nomi Mate 3.0 voice assistant. Other standard features include wireless phone charging, NFC digital key support, and updated steering wheel controls. Higher trims offer heated, ventilated, and massaging seats, with rear passengers gaining climate and seat adjustment controls.
Powertrain and Range
The powertrain remains unchanged, with a dual-motor system producing 360 kW and 700 Nm of torque. Battery options include 75 kWh, 100 kWh, and 150 kWh packs, delivering a maximum range of up to 930 km, depending on the configuration. Nio continues to offer both battery-swap compatibility and the option to purchase the vehicle with or without the battery.
Safety and Driver Assistance
The ES6 features Nio’s advanced sensor suite, including LiDAR and 29 sensors powered by the NX9031 computing platform. Safety updates include tyre blowout control at high speed and UV-blocking laminated glass.
