Skoda has launched a special edition Kodiaq, the Edition X, to mark the SUV’s tenth anniversary. The new trim level offers enhanced styling and equipment while being notably cheaper than comparable models, and it cleverly avoids a higher vehicle tax bracket.
Key Specifications and Pricing
The Edition X will be available from late spring 2026, starting at £39,995 (or £40,590 on the road). This makes it approximately £2,000 less expensive than the equivalent SE L trim it builds upon.
Enhanced Design and Features
The Edition X stands out with several visual upgrades:
- Dark 19-inch alloy wheels
- Gloss black detailing on the D-pillars
- An illuminated “dark chrome” grille
Inside, the Edition X boasts premium features including tri-zone climate control, a large 15-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), Matrix LED headlights, and perforated leather seats. Importantly, it retains the seven-seat configuration of the SE L model.
Engine and Performance
Powering the Edition X is a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. It delivers 148 horsepower and utilizes a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with front-wheel drive. There is no option for pairing this trim with the Kodiaq’s plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Avoiding the Luxury Car Tax
A key advantage of the Edition X is its pricing, which keeps it just under the £40,000 threshold. This means buyers avoid the extra tax applied to vehicles exceeding that price, making it a more cost-effective choice for those seeking a well-equipped SUV.
The Kodiaq Edition X provides a compelling combination of added features and lower running costs. For buyers prioritizing value and practicality, this special edition offers a distinct advantage in the competitive SUV market.
