Subaru is preparing to release its first all-electric wagon, the Trailseeker, in 2026. The new EV builds on the company’s popular gas-powered Outback model, while introducing a modern, EV-focused design.
Exterior Design and Key Features
The Trailseeker features a low and long profile, maintaining the familiar Subaru wagon shape. A closed-off grille immediately signals its electric powertrain. All trims will come standard with 8.5 inches of ground clearance and roof rails designed for aftermarket accessories.
Performance and Drivetrain
Subaru’s new EV will offer all-wheel drive with dual motors producing 375 horsepower. This is expected to give the Trailseeker faster acceleration than the current Solterra model, which hits 60 mph in 4.3 seconds.
Trim Levels and Options
Subaru will offer three Trailseeker trims: Premium, Limited, and Touring.
- Premium: Comes with 18-inch wheels and aero wheel covers.
- Limited: Upgrades to 20-inch wheels.
- Touring: The highest trim, including a panoramic glass roof and additional luxury features not available on lower trims.
The Trailseeker’s running lamps share design elements with Subaru’s other EV models, the Uncharted and Solterra. A rear lightbar illuminates the Subaru script when the lights are on, adding a premium touch.
The 2026 Subaru Trailseeker represents a significant step for the company into the EV market. By combining familiar styling with modern electric performance, Subaru is aiming to attract both existing fans and new customers looking for an all-electric wagon option.
