Skoda loves the Kodiaq. They shouldn’t blame the car. It is genuinely one of the best large SUVs you can buy, period. We fell in love with it in 2023. We haven’t stopped. Now though? They are tweaking it.
Spied for the first time. No fancy studio shots. Just mud. Alps. Towing something heavy while wearing camo. Typical mid-cycle refresh behavior.
Less disguise, more intent
This sighting changes things for rivals. Look at the Kia Sorento. Or the Hyundai Santa Fe. Even the VW Tayron should be worried, because whatever Skoda puts into the Kodiaq will eventually trickle over to Volkswagen. It is the family business.
Why 2027? Because development takes time. You do not just wake up with a new bumper. But the hardware is being stress-tested now. That means the clock is ticking.
What changes? Not much structurally. Mostly surface tension.
- Front end: Expect reshaped headlights. New bumper design. The classic “refresh” look that signals money spent on styling, not engineering.
- Rear lights: Might get segmented. A nod to the newer Skoda Peaq. That seven-seater EV will basically eat the Kodiaq’s lunch later this year. The lighting signature is a way to link the brands without sharing the platform yet.
- Interior: Keep the physical switches. This is vital. The 13-inch screen and 10-inch cluster are there, yes, but those three rotary ‘Smart Dials’? They stay. Physical buttons matter. They separate Skoda from the touch-screen-obsessed rivals. Expect new materials. New colors. Maybe some ‘Lounge’ or ‘Design’ grade fluff.
It is just a facelift. Sure. But sometimes you just want a better-looking family hauler without having to buy a new chassis entirely.
Do you actually care if the headlights look different? Or do you just want it to tow better?
We don’t know if the engine specs are changing. Yet.
