It starts with a $19,300 SUV. KG Mobility updated the Torres. Four years old, really. Just subtle tweaks on the outside, mostly. Bumpers look a bit different. Horizontal slits now, instead of what they were. Aluminum finish in the center. It ties the look together with the new skid plates, front and rear. More polished. Still rugged though.
And the wheels? Five-spoke design, 20-inch alloys. They added Plasma Shadow paint, too. It’s a color that doesn’t scream for attention, which works. The length grew by 5 millimeters, thanks to the bumper change. 4,705 millimeters total now. Wheelbase? Same 2,680 millimeters. Unchanged.
Inside though, the real news is here.
They fixed it.
The climate controls are back. Physical buttons, not touchscreens anymore. That old panel on the center console went away, and it should’ve been gone sooner. Who misses tapping a glass slab to find a draft? Exactly. Now they sit next to a bigger screen. 12.3 inches for the infotainment system. Up from 9. Running Athena 2.5 software. The instrument cluster matches that size. 12.3 inches there too.
The steering wheel got a redesign, cleaner. It has a rotary dial now, for drive modes. Actually useful. Wireless charging pads are there, dual ones. USB-C ports everywhere, not just tucked in one dark corner. Driver assistance tech is better, more capable. You can choose black, brown, or gray for the interior. Simple choices.
Under the hood?
No changes to the powertrains. Not really. The gas engine is still a turbo 1.5 T-GDI four. Makes 168 hp. It used to have a six-speed automatic, an old unit that felt tired. Now it’s eight-speed. The 4WD models got a Terrain mode selector. Sand. Mud. Snow. Gravel. Standard stuff, but good to have.
Then there’s the hybrid.
Self-charging type, arrived late 2025. Made with BYD. Same turbo 1.5 engine, plus two electric motors and a small 1.8 kWh battery. Drives the front wheels only. And if you just want electricity entirely? The Torres EVX exists. Different styling, different story.
It’s not a revolution. Just an evolution that actually feels like it listens to complaints. Wasn’t it obvious they’d bring the physical buttons back? Maybe not.
